Encounter Jesus for Healing and Comfort

By Debora Galloway

Feb 14,2021

On Feb 10th, the Lord spoke to me “I’m slowing things down and releasing my peace for healing, comfort and encounters.”  I began to imagine a cozy blanket of peace wrapping around God’s people. I saw us sipping from a calm river or brook.” I found myself praying “Lord, fill us with your peace and life for healing”.

The Leaf of Healing

In going back to my journal notes on the words God gave me for this year, on 1-1-21 when the Lord said it would be “a year of breakthrough and life”. I also wrote down “turning over a new leaf. The leaf of healing” This made me think about the River of Life in Rev 22:2, “the leaves of the tree (of life) were for the healing of the nations.” That includes us! Dictionary.com says the expression “turning over a new leaf” alludes to turning the page of a book to a new page. God is doing something new and it includes healing!

In 2020, God gave me 3 scriptures to write songs to so that I would marinate in them, declare them and pray them over and over.  One of those was from the beginning of Isaiah 26.  “You will keep Him (Her) in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.  In Yahweh, the Lord, is everlasting strength”. God wants to heal us and renew our strength through His peace.

After I had the dream in my last post, I began to ask the Lord.. “God, what do I and my family need in order to obtain that strong container in our suitcases that will enable us to make it successfully into the next move of God?”.  The Holy Spirit answered back.. “Health”.  And I heard that scripture from Joel 2:25 “ I will restore the years the locust has eaten”.

Healing for Spirit, Soul & Body

God wants us contending for healing and miracles for ourselves and for our families. God wants to restore the strength of His people. (Psalm 103:1-5, Isaiah 35, Isaiah 40:31)  Way too often, we have a tendency to settle for less than God’s best for our health.  I believe health includes spiritual, physical and emotional healing.  When we forgo the emotional healing that we need, it can manifest in our physical bodies. God wants to heal our whole self: spirit, soul and body.

In contending for this wholeness and healing,  Jesus is inviting us into impactful and powerful encounters with Him. His total sacrifice on the cross has already made provision for our complete healing, but many of us don’t know how to access all that Jesus has for us.  Hebrews 4:16 “Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” And James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” And lastly, Heb 3:18-4:3, “And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So, we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”  We need to believe that Jesus wants us to approach Him and have experiences with Him that will heal our hearts and catapult us forward into His love and purposes.

So.. believe! Jesus in inviting us in this season into some new experiences, some personal encounters with Him.  I’ve had dreams and visions my whole life, but nothing compares to the recent encounters I’ve had with Jesus going up into the throne room and looking into the face of Jesus.  It’s a place of surrendering all and allowing Jesus to redefine our lives and our very identity.  He will confirm in that place who He created us to be and what He wants us focused on this season.

Because the Lord brought up healing in the context of slowing down and peace, it made me think of the Hebrew word for perfect peace in Isaiah 26 “Shalom, Shalom”. The commentary in my bible says that the Hebrew word Shalom implies health, happiness, well-being and peace. Also, my bible regarding Shalom it says “Strongs #7965- completeness, wholeness, peace, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest and harmony. It’s more than the absence of agitation, but the root word Shalam means ‘to be complete, perfect and full’. This is the wholeness that the entire human race seeks. The wholeness made possible by Jesus suffering on the cross (Isaiah 53:5)”  I don’t know about you.. but more of all those things?  Yes, please!

Let the Spirit of the Living God fill you with Peace. Peace in your spirit to fill you. Peace in your soul and body to heal you.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace.  Let Him take you to new places in Him this year, so that you and your family will not miss the fullness of all He has for you, which includes divine healing and peace.

Recently, I keep finding myself referencing this scripture in Romans 14:17 “… for the kingdom of God…. Is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”.  In a previous post I mentioned how joy can bubble up supernaturally.  There are other times joy comes as a progression.  Today I saw this scripture like a river flowing.  When we experience the righteousness of Christ and receive His forgiveness in an area of our life, it causes peace to flow (like a river flows) because Jesus is The Prince of Peace.  If we don’t have enough peace, we are lacking some needed face time with Jesus!  Faith in God’s Word should bring us peace, and there is more.. encountering Jesus himself! Peace is part of who Jesus is. If the flow of Jesus’ Life is running through us, we will find our peace in Him. As we spend “face time” with Jesus receiving His peace, His peace will flow through us and can accomplish many different things.  One of which is healing and wholeness. As we receive healing physically, emotionally or spiritually we flow into Joy.  When emotional weights are removed and miracles happen, Joy results!  When someone gets healed physically, there is a lot of rejoicing and joy around!  God wants this for all of us, for righteousness, peace and joy to flow through our spirit, soul and body like The River of Life, because He is a God of restoration.  In the bible, whenever we see God restore, He never restores like before. He always restores GREATER than before!  That’s how good our God is!

Encounter Jesus Now!

As the Lord was speaking to me about the contents of this post, these three songs below came to mind.  Not sure why the Lord gave me these old songs.  Maybe He wants the older generation not to miss this! Or maybe because they were all inspired by scripture.  If you know one of them (if you don’t you can start with another song) why don’t you just sit back right now.. relax, close your eyes and sing these songs to Jesus.. focus on His beautiful face in your mind’s eye, maybe in the throne room of heaven or maybe by the brook of bliss in the beginning of Psalm 23.  It’s the Holy Spirit within us that makes possible intimate moments with Jesus, but we have to choose to give Him that space and draw near to Him. We just have to choose to believe!  Jesus wants to fill you, heal you and strengthen you, and you can always go back to Him for more..

I love Psalm 23:1-3a from The Passion Translation. “The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in His luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss. That’s where He restores and revives my life.”

As A Deer by Martin Nystrom, based on Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longs after You
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You

I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You

You’re my friend and You’re my brother
Even though you are a King
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You

Spirit Song (Jesus, O Jesus Come and Fill) by John Wimber, based on Ephesians 3:16-19

Jesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Jesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs

O let the Son of God enfold you
With His Spirit and His love
Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul
O let Him have the things that hold you
And His Spirit like a dove
Will descend upon your life and make you whole

Jesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Jesus, O Jesus
Come and fill Your lambs
Come and fill Your lambs
